Appalachian Community Federal Credit Union recognizes that periodically members may overdraw their checking accounts. Because a fee is incurred for returned checks, we encourage our members to be prepared by offering overdraft protection options.
The following options are available:
Overdraft Privilege:
Have you ever made an honest mistake in your checkbook? ACFCU now offers members with a checking account and in good standing with the credit union a new service called Overdraft Privilege. Members can now avoid high fees from merchants for returned checks or ACH items. We will consider payment of overdrafts up to a total of $500 (including fees). This new service requires no action on members' part. There is no fee unless you use Overdraft Privilege. If used you will be charged $28 per item paid. Not all members are eligible and some restrictions apply. Call a credit union office for further details.
Overdraft Coverage (Savings Transfer) . This option means that the exact amount of the overdraft is transferred from your regular savings account. (There is not a fee for this transfer.)
Overdraft Protection Line of Credit Loan : This option is a line of credit attached to your checking account. Funds are transferred to your checking in the exact amount needed up to the available line of credit. Payments may be made by transfer or cash.
